”I, Mohammad Fattahi, retired associate professor of the Research Institute of Forests and Rangelands of Iran

during 30 years of service and 20 years after retirement, have placed about 200 articles, books, videos and attractive social content on the website westforests.ir and will continue to do so

with only one dream:

to see my small home Zagros and my big home Earth greener, springs fuller, skies bluer, and their inhabitants kinder

than before.

This Charter does not belong to me , it is the voice of all the sages of Iran and the world.Ten Green

Jewels from Ten Eternal

SagesSaadi Shirazi: “Two proofs of human wisdom: caressing the heads of the weak and planting seeds of hope in the soil.”

Saadi: “The children of Adam are limbs of one body… If you feel no pain for others’

sufferings, you do not deserve the name human.”

Rumi: “Come, for it is time for peace and reconciliation; the war of rose and thorn is over.”

Hafez: “Every blade of grass that grows by a stream seems to have been kissed by angels.”

Khayyam: “This jug was once a lover like me… now it lies in the earth, and the earth has turned it into a garden.”

Ferdowsi: “If your tree bears the fruit of knowledge, you will bring down the azure heavens.”

Seneca (Roman): “We are part of nature, not its masters. We are guests, not owners.”

Chief Seattle (Native American): “The Earth does not belong to us. We belong to the Earth.”

Wangari Maathai (Kenya): “As long as an African woman plants a tree, there is hope.”

Buddha: “Just as a mother protects her only child with her life, cherish boundless loving-kindness toward all beings.

”We, from every nation, faith and tongue

before this tiny blue dot in the infinite cosmos,

pledge that:We will plant trees, conserve water, revive the soil

so that long after our names are forgotten,

the shade of the tree we planted will still be cool,

and the breeze passing through its leaves will whisper our names with kindness.

Our Common Covenant
Until the last tree of Zagros
Until the last drop of the Persian Gulf
Until the Earth’s final breath
Together, we will protect the forests and water resources of the land of Iran.
